Certified Pharmacy Technician

March 2016 • Topeka, KS

What I liked

I enjoy the constant interaction with people whether it’s customers or coworkers. There are also always opportunities for problem solving.

What I wish was different

Some shifts are odd hours but it seldom happens.

Advice

Ask questions! Do try to figure things out on your own but not 100% of the time. Working in the pharmacy has a lot of HIPAA laws as well as working with insurance information and various medications.

Pharmacy Technician

November 2017 • Sterling Heights, MI

What I liked

I liked that Walgreens is a pharmacy that is trusted and exists everywhere throughout the United States. I liked that I had the option of working at different pharmacies (Walgreens) and that I had the opportunity to work with different pharmacy managers and pharmacy staff, all from whom I learned a lot.

What I wish was different

I wish the company would be a bit more student friendly and more uderstanding of some of the school comitments I had.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give about this experience is to get certified as soon as possible ( to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam). While preparing for this exam, candidates would learn a lot about a lot of the medications pharmacy technicians deal with on a day-to-day basis, pharmacy procedures, policies etc. Pay goes up as one becomes certified as well.
