The Autism Care for Toddlers (ACT) Clinic is a University of Nebraska Medical Center community outreach program located in the Autism Center of Nebraska in Omaha. The clinic provides intensive early intervention services using applied behavior analysis (ABA), which is the only research-supported treatment for autism spectrum disorder. Trained therapists provide one-on-one services for toddlers with autism, teaching vital skills in the areas of communication, adaptive behavior, social interactions, and academics.
Ongoing supervision and education in ABA is provided by Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). Behavioral therapists participate in a 40-hour training to sit for the exam to become a Registered Behavioral Therapist (RBT). Strong applicants are typically undergraduate or graduate students in a related field (e.g., psychology, education, speech-language pathology, physical therapy) with at least one year of prior experience working with young children (ages 2-5). Therapists must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, be ambulatory, and possess independent writing abilities.
