Morgan Stanley Wealth Management

Wealth Management Intern

June - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked how welcoming and happy to help everyone I met was.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been in person instead of virtual so I could have bonded with my fellow interns better but that is a natural drawback of the covid environment we live in.

Advice

In the wealth management field, it is more about are you a good fit for the firm and would people want to be your coworker that they want you to learn and grow on the team, but you will not be successful if you are not compatible with the corporate culture.

What I liked

The people I worked with. Everyone in the Alabama Branch welcomed me with open arms, made sure I was learning every day, and made my experience more than I could ever have imagined.

What I wish was different

Location. It was difficult moving from Atlanta just for the Summer.

Advice

Make every day count and never take your opportunities for granted.

Wealth Management and Investment Management Intern

January - August 2017 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

There is such a fun-loving team environment in the office. I learned so much about the industry simply observing the day to day activities and even more from the financial advisors themselves. I loved that I wasn't treated like an intern but instead as a valued member of the team. I was worked into a variety of projects that helped me gain insight as to which areas interest me most in the financial field.

What I wish was different

Honestly, this internship far exceeded my expectations. I don't think I would have it any other way!

Advice

There are two pieces of advice that I would like to share. 1. Don't be afraid to ask questions, whether big or small. 2. Be personable - positive personalities add so much to the workplace.

Summer Analyst

June - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

This internship program provides so many opportunities to network with both peers and upper management. All projects were meaningful and hands on. There were socialization opportunities but the environment was also challenging. Great balance.

What I wish was different

There is not much I would have changed.

Advice

I would advise future interns to take advantage of networking opportunities, to learn as much as you can and to have a positive attitude the entire time. It's a competitive internship so put your best foot forward.
