Molex Incorporated

Consulting Business Associate

July - September 2021 • Bolingbrook, IL

What I liked

The work hours

What I wish was different

Better managers

Advice

It’s a good place to work at, especially for the pay rate. Competes with surrounding wear houses like Amazon.

Inside Sales Engineer

May - December 2019 • Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg

What I liked

Inside sales allows you to face customers and build relationships. You get a feel for a multitude - in my case, 100,000+ - products of the company's portfolio. Being a part of the revenue generating body of a company, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of a well-trained salesforce. Working with electronic components, one becomes familiarized with related processes such as soldering, stamping, termination, assembly, and molding.

What I wish was different

While inside sales is fast paced and brings something new daily, for me it is too far away from the developmental side of the product. This is a wish to have experience more automation, though that is not the role I accepted.

Advice

Living in a non-English-speaking country for seventh months challenges in ways you can't imagine. If you want to do this, seek advice from someone who has done it before, and I strongly recommend some form learning acquisition before departure!

Product Engineering Assistant

January 2019 • Auburn Hills, MI

What I liked

Coworkers are great. We all get along very well! Molex pays well and has a 401k program that interns can be involved in. They are very dedicated in getting you a job after school. My manager is super flexible with my schedule.

What I wish was different

Not much. Very good job overall

Advice

Go to the career fair and talk to Molex. Talk about your personal goals and attributes and what you are interested in at school. If you need a flexible summer coop or internship, Molex has been great for me so far.

Software Development Intern

February 2019 • Lincoln, NE

What I liked

- Comfortable work environment - good pay - great coworkers (other interns as well as supervisors/managers) - flexible scheduling (full time in summer, as few as 15 hours / week during school) - company-wide policy of safety is very important to everyone - occasional free time to work on personal projects or homework - weekly reports of how the company is doing and what employees at the plant can expect - minimal meetings, strong focus on actually working

What I wish was different

I wish there was a bit more variability in work that I do. It's a lot of maintaining and updating ASP.NET MVC web applications, which is fine, but internal web apps don't really introduce me to more diverse topics of CompSci.

Advice

Enjoy it! Molex is a solid company to work for who cares about their employees, I would strongly recommend working there if you get the opportunity.

Industrial and Process Intern

May 2018 • Pinellas Park, FL

What I liked

This internship has been a really cool experience so far. I really like the fact that they treat you as a professional engineer by allowing you to take on projects on your own. This gave me the freedom to implement my own ideas and methods or tools learned from classes. I also like that I have direct access to professional engineers that help me with certain projects assignments when needed.

What I wish was different

Advice

I would to definitely say to make sure you work on your soft skills such as presenting, facilitating a meeting, or public speaking as well as the technical skills learned in courses.
