Milestone Marketing

Marketing Intern

June - August 2022 • Wellesley, MA

What I liked

Despite this being a remote position, the managers at Milestone do an excellent job of facilitating community and making you feel like you're a valuable part of the team from Day 1. I received assignments that enabled me to improve my writing skills, explore new topics, and work on creative projects that I genuinely enjoyed. As an English major, I wasn't sure how I could apply my degree to a real world position. My experience at Milestone showed me the value of writing in marketing and inspired me to pursue it after my internship ended! I highly recommend this internship to other students, as it helped expand my idea of what I can do with the knowledge I've gained at Kenyon.

What I wish was different

Honestly, not much! I found the work I did engaging and the company welcoming and friendly.

Advice

Go in ready to tackle a wide variety of projects and flex your creative skills.

What I liked

Working at Milestone as a summer intern is a fantastic experience that combines learning practical business and marketing skills, creativity, strategy, and writing. You'll wear a lot of hats in this position (something that was ideal for me) and have a lot of general flexibility. Kristen is an incredible mentor who takes the time to get to know each intern and assign you projects based on your strengths and goals, and everyone else I've worked with at Milestone has been talented, driven, and warm. If you're passionate about writing and/or content creation, this is a great summer position!

Marketing Intern

May - July 2018 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

I received substantial, constructive feedback and encouragement often throughout the internship. I was gaining more experience than I could have imagined, and adding to a writing portfolio in the process. The internship is really what you make of it — the more types of work I requested, the more opportunities I received. Even after the internship was over, Kristen kept in touch and seemed genuinely invested in my fellow interns' and my success. She was a superb reference for future roles.

Marketing Intern

June - August 2021 • Peoria, IL

What I liked

My supervisors were encouraging. Feedback was constructive, specific, and frequent. My assignments had clear goals but I had creative freedom in how to approach them. I had the opportunity to write. Working remotely allowed me to have a bit more flexibility with my schedule and saved me from having to spend additional transportation costs, which was important for me since the role was unpaid. The program was focused on helping me develop a portfolio of my own writing that I could bring to employers in the future. It is engineered with the goal of developing interns' professional development and a substantial body of work.

What I wish was different

Really, I would only wish that the role was paid. The internship itself was a wonderful experience. I have no criticisms.

Advice

Be prepared to think outside the box; you will often be responsible for your own assignment topics, so make sure that you are interested in the ideas you bring to the table.

What I liked

This internship has helped me discover what I can do with writing as a potential career. I worked remotely, and was allowed a great deal of independence while still receiving instruction, guidance, and critiques. I was allowed to use many of my own ideas, while also being pushed to develop my creativity and writing skills. I always felt so welcomed and encouraged to learn, develop my skills, and feel confident about my work. I knew nothing about marketing going in, and by the end of the summer was handling most of my own projects! Highly recommend applying for this internship.
