What I liked

I enjoyed working with a small group of staff members and getting to know the market community. I appreciated that my managers answered my many questions about what it means to be a farmers market manager. Getting to know the vendors was also a great part of the experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to carry out more projects and do more than individual tasks. Part of my job included creating the weekly newsletters for over 2,000 market members which improved my design and communication skills, and it would have been great to have more similar projects.

Advice

I would advise other students to take initiative in their internship experiences. This might mean pitching project ideas to your supervisor early on and making concrete goals about what you want to get out of the experience.
