I had the opportunity to deeply understand and carry out experiments that are commonly used in the field of biochemistry. Concepts are a mix of biology and chemistry: we use model systems (plant cells, fungi, or bacteria) as a means to create compounds of biological interest in yields far greater than by purely chemical synthesis (without using the model systems but instead only chemistry.) in order to have enough to test hypotheses regarding
What I wish was different
That it would have worked out more "long-term" and I would have been able to stay in the same lab and work under Professor Koutmos through my undergraduate graduation and continue to pursue a PhD in biochemistry.
Advice
Things in life do not always work out exactly how you imagined they should. This is because everyone in life has a path that is INDEPENDENT of those of others. As such, there is no formula for success in life, because everything in life is subjective to ones own unique perspective. The path someone else took to reaching their personal career goals and aspirations might look very different and more straightforward than yours. However, their life was formed from their DNA and life experience that is unique to them and independent of the analogous metrics in your own life. It follows, that your path to success in life is also independent of the paths of others but instead is dependent on your own experience, passion, and abilities.
