What I liked

Getting to meet so many interesting people, from new acquaintances to old friends.

What I wish was different

This industry must be treated with much more respect and recognition than it currently is at the moment.

Advice

Wherever you desire or start off working at, enjoy the experience and the time there. If not, it may not be the best place for you, but that is why you must market yourself in order to get the job that you truly want.

Cook

December 2021 - March 2022 • Weslaco, TX

What I liked

The thing I enjoyed most about working at Mcdonald's was all of my amazing co-workers whom I was fortunate enough to meet while there as well as the many life-long lessons, which were taught to me by my manager.

What I wish was different

I truly wish the timing was different because if I hadn't had to worry about ongoing dual credit work alongside basic High School classes I wouldn't have had to quit and would've probably continued working for a longer period of time gaining more experience and memories there.

Advice

One key piece of advice is that nobody should ever be afraid to take risks, and I know that it's probably one of the most cliche lines you've heard over a thousand times but I wholeheartedly stand by it. What most do not know is that life is always going to come with its fair share of rejection, and it should be used as a form of discouragement, but instead a conduit of motivation.

What I liked

I like the most about, is to have a good part time job experience in the summer to get out from boredom is about how to become hardwork and gain independence to earn your own money and not to rely to ask your parents to give you money, you learn more about the restaurant, cleaning the lobby, taking orders, bagging orders, delivered food to costumers in the curbside, making drinks and working at the cash register

What I wish was different

Working in the kitchen and the drive thru

Advice

The advice I'm giving to someone who is starting a job is start to apply more jobs and try to see they will take you in because it could be hard to get a job for 70% who you know and 10% they take you in just try to do your best

Fast Food Worker

March - August 2022 • Newport News, VA

What I liked

I loved a few of the workers there that have helped me out when I was the only one making the food, I also loved the different jobs that the manager assigned me to to help me know every position as well as the experience of working there which helped me with time management.

What I wish was different

While working there I wished for more people to show up during the early mornings due to the amount of customers we had and me being the only one having to stock multiple trays of food.

Advice

The one piece of advice that I would share with others would be to remain cautious of the objects around them and be prepared to get their hands close to the grill if they need to place Patties, bacon, or scrambled eggs.

What I liked

When it comes to the McDonalds work environment, I like how diverse and open my coworkers are, in addition to the occasional burger I got to assemble.

What I wish was different

I wish the experience felt less like I was working at a factory and more like I was valued as a human being, especially during rush hour as demand shoves work down your throat.

Advice

A good position for initiating your career and the work experience section of your resume, but be ready to work hard during lunch and dinner.
