I loved the work environment that MassMutual provided. My goal for the summer was to gain professional experience at a corporate office and the people there really taught me more about office culture and assigned me projects that help me learn more about the financial services industry.
What I wish was different
I wish that I was able to continue working for them, although I was offered to continue I needed to work 16 hours not including weekends and with my school schedule it was not possible. We also had priority projects that kept us interns from working with more departments as I would have hoped.
Advice
I would share that although it is intimidating to reach out for experience opportunities it will be the most rewarding. Yes, sometimes you do get rejected, sometimes the job you took is much more challenging than expected, but at the end of the day it will all pay off and by trying you gain experience on how to do better next time.
