Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women

About Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women

The Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women is a state-established body charged with reviewing the status of women in Massachusetts and offering recommendations regarding policy that would improve access to opportunities and equality. The Commission is composed of 19 volunteer commissioners, who dedicate their time to assessing the status of women in the Commonwealth and pushing for beneficial legislative changes. The commissioners are appointed by one of four appointing authorities: the Governor, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House, and the Caucus of Women Legislators.

For more information see: About the Commission.

The Commission hosts several annual events each year, such as our Unsung Heroine initiative, Advocacy Day and four public hearings. The latter two events are open to the public. The Commission also holds monthly meetings open to the public, typically held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Please consult our Calendar for more information and confirm the date and time with our office.
