Maryland Public Television

Video Production Intern

May - August 2019 • Owings Mills, MD

What I liked

I loved the hands-on experience that MPT offered us Interns. They let us experiment with all of the different equipment used to put on a live studio production.

What I wish was different

I wish that they had us in the studio more days out of the week.

Advice

One piece of advice that i would share about my experience to any potential interns is to not be shy about asking to use the equipment because everybody is so friendly is is there to help you and advance you in your career.

Video Production Intern

June - August 2019 • Owings Mills, MD

What I liked

I liked the environment of the studio. It was fun to work in a professional, fully equipped video setting.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have received more instruction. I was confused with what to do and often was shamed for it.

Advice

Constantly ask questions. Nobody will be happy with your performance if you don't.

Intern

June - August 2017 • Owings Mills, MD

What I liked

Hands-on experience with real television shows. I was fortunate enough to work on every aspect, from story boarding and script writing in pre-production, to running a set, to editing the Teacher of the Year presentation.

What I wish was different

I wish I had spent more time in learning about sound mixing. This is not something I have had the chance to really work with before, and did not take full advantage of while I was there.

Advice

Work here if you have a car, pubic transportation is rough. Take full advantage of everything, soak it up, ask tons of questions.
