What I liked

Mars interns work on important projects that add value to the company. I enjoyed working on a diverse set of product and process translation projects within a manufacturing facility. Supply Chain Intern

May - August 2019 • St. Charles, MO

What I liked

I loved the fact that this employer made us work on an actual project that pertains to the role you're placed in. We also had team building days and went to see the Cardinals baseball game vs. the Cubs. This company really cares about their early talent and it shows. I walked into work every day knowing my team and other cross-functional teams wanted me to succeed. The culture, people, and the fact we can bring our dogs to work everyday!

What I wish was different

I have no complaints, it was a truly great experience!

Advice

One piece of advice is to ask questions, NO question is dumb, and to reach out and converse with those outside of your team and/or department.

Human Resource Intern

May - August 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Mars has a lot of things to offer and my experience there was invaluable. My project was based off of business need and had a true impact on the business. No one treated me as an intern and my opinion was often solicited and listened to. On top of the work, the culture is amazing. Every person there cared about me and my development. Resources were provided to me that allowed me to really excel and take my project where I wanted, allowing me to provide a genuine solution. Throughout the experience, I was able to grow both personally and professionally and I would highly recommend an internship here.

What I wish was different

I really did enjoy every aspect of my internship. It might have been nice to shadow more full-time employees to see what their day-to-day jobs looked like just for better understanding of how each job and function relates back to the business. The opportunity is there, I just wish I would have dedicated more time to it.

Advice

At the beginning, the project I was assigned was a little bit ambiguous, which may be hard for some people to navigate in. However, if you are willing to dive in, understand the problem, and are truly passionate about helping the business, the internship allows you to make a real impact and better yourself as an individual.

What I liked

My internship experience at Mars was incredible! Interns worked on projects that truly made an impact on the business which I really appreciated. I was given 2 buddies and a line manager who supported me throughout the whole summer. I also loved all the social and networking opportunities given to me with other interns and fellow Mars associates. The office is a very friendly and welcoming environment. Plus the endless free candy and ice cream didn't hurt, on some days people can bring their dogs too!

What I wish was different

There isn't much that I wish was different about my experience! Associates at Mars really value their interns and treat them with respect.

Advice

My piece of advice is to not be afraid to put yourself out there and ask questions! It can be really uncomfortable asking for help but it's necessary to be successful as an intern at Mars, especially given how large and global the company is. Also, it's important to have fun at work and outside of work with the other interns!
