MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies)

Nonclinical and Safety Intern

June 2019 • Santa Cruz, CA

What I liked

mental health centered environment and working hard to be inclusive and promote diversity

What I wish was different

a more structured schedule for myself. it can be hard to make a schedule for a remote job where your tasks change day by day

Advice

always follow up on projects when you haven’t heard about them in a while! people are usually very busy and your project with someone can be pushed to the back burner (with no ill intent). a follow up email never hurts!

Clinical Systems Archival Volunteer

June - October 2019 • Santa Cruz, CA

What I liked

I loved learning about all of the clinical trials for various psychological treatments.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to volunteer throughout the week instead of just Mondays and Tuesdays. I learned so much, and there is still even more!

Advice

Be persistent in pursuing the organization. They are very busy, but they appreciate and recognize all that their volunteers do to support them.
