MAA

Leasing Manager

January 2021 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

After recently starting my current position with MAA, I have already gained invaluable experience and knowledge in multi-family housing. Their training is thorough and the internal company support is strong and greatly appreciated. They have welcomed me to their company with open arms and make me feel like a valued employee. I recommend working with MAA for anyone looking to further their industry experience in leasing, property management, multi-family housing, etc.

What I wish was different

At this time, I do not wish anything to be different. MAA has made sure everyone at the property level has the resources they need to be successful.

Advice

Transitioning from student housing to multi-family was an adjustment, but I encourage anyone who wants to pursue a career in property management to consider MAA as their next employer.

Assistant Property Manager

May 2019 • Glen Allen, VA

What I liked

I have worked for several locations within MAA across Virginia and Maryland (Hyattsville, Tysons Corner, Alexandria, Glen Allen). I like that each office is different, but still operates as a team regionally and nationally. Teamwork and friendship is the reason that employees stay with MAA for 10+ years. You can expect to have a helping hand by your side in any part of the U.S. I have mentors in Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland and even down the street that would drop anything to assist me with my role. Also, each day is different. I never know what great memories may arise from the day ahead. You get the best of both worlds by having an organized environment filled with new prospects to meet and show apartments to.

What I wish was different

If you want to climb the ladder, you have to be willing to move around. Within my first year, I moved 4 times because I was chasing promotions. This is not necessary to be successful within the company, but it certainly speeds up the process.

Advice

Do not be afraid to learn. You can really grow as an individual if you continually talk to others around you. If you are a senior at JMU like I was in 2019, this is your chance to have a great career with MAA. Make the leap toward your future and meet a fellow Duke like me in the process!
