Talent Acquisition Intern

June - August 2019 • Novi, MI

What I liked

I liked how involved the interns were! There were 10 total interns in each department within the company. We attended meetings, created new projects, worked on our intern project, and collaborated/networked with many different people. This was corporate America and there were at least 500+ people in the building. I liked the daily tasks that I was responsible for. I was able to connect with multiple Center Directors all over the US! I also learned the behind the scenes of recruitment.

What I wish was different

I wish the team I had were more personable. Towards the end I felt a bit left out because they stopped teaching me. I also didn't like that whenever I showed them an idea, they took over the rest of it instead of letting me continue from start to finish.

Advice

As an intern, it's so important to be involved and not be afraid to try new things. Always go above & beyond and ask your supervisor for more to do! I would also advise to get the opportunity to cross-train when you have down time. Ask endless questions to increase your knowledge, ask to assist with tasks. Love to LEARN! Internships are the sole purpose of learning and you can only do that by being involved, asking questions, taking notes, and taking risks.

Teacher

January 2018 • Flagstaff, AZ

What I liked

Interacting with the children and knowing every single day would be a new experience.

What I wish was different

There are several children with behavioral issues that need better resources than we can provide them with, and I wish that we had the staff/time to work with them individually to help improve behaviors in an effective way.

Advice

Children can open our minds and hearts. They are so pure and their thirst for life is encouraging to anyone.
