I found my passion for public service through my incredible experiences working at the Centennial Hills and Spring Valley Libraries. I met the beautifully diverse Las Vegas community firsthand and gained invaluable life experiences.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been greater flexibility in positions and hours distributed to allow for additional services to be created. I felt unable to reach the full potential of what I could do for my community in my limited role.
Advice
Working with the public comes with a host of challenges, but it became easier once I took to heart the idea that people come into the library looking for help. They need something - whether it's information, resources, or services - and they have come to us for guidance. When you learn to love being that guide for someone, you will have found your home in library services.
