Working at LFCDS not only gave me the opportunity to gain real world experience, but also let me experience how a professional workspace should operate. I got to see how a Technology Support Specialist, a System Administrator, and a Director of IT all handle their own work and collaborate. The environment was extremely friendly and comfortable. During the internship I was also given opportunities to sit down with employees to discuss their work, how they create solutions, and best practices in real world situations and organizations. I was also given the opportunity to participate in discussions and provide feedback on solutions in development. I can guarantee that any student who interns here will benefit from the experiences gained while working, as well as the wisdom of those they work under.

What I liked
My internship as a Data Integration Specialist at LFCDS has been a tremendous experience. There are plenty of opportunities to learn new application and software tools to experiment with data projects and flexibility regarding scheduling. Team members and supervisors are great to work with, as they provide valuable knowledge and are willing to answer any questions or give feedback. They made me feel like a valued part of the LFCDS community. They were able to discuss goals I had set out at the beginning of the internship and the progress I have been making in accomplishing them through weekly meetings.

What I liked
I loved everything about this internship. It was such a positive environment. The faculty and staff are amazing and the students are so bright. I worked with the 4th grade students primarily and they were amazing and so eager to learn. The students at LFCDS are always eager to learn and take advantage of the opportunities presented to them. As for my responsibilities, I managed the morning announcements and I taught the 4th graders. I also helped produce a newsletter for them and made video tutorials for 7th grade students for a specific project they had that involved coding. All of these responsibilities were thoroughly enjoyable for me and definitely manageable.

Advice
My advice would be to be patient with the students you end up teaching no matter the grade level. Remember to take things slowly as you are the expert in your field and are trying to teach younger children and help them experience a spark of interest in your field.
