There was a lot of opportunities to work overtime and the higher staff made me feel very welcome
What I wish was different
I wish it wasn't located in a factory and we had longer breaks

Assembly Operator
May - July 2019 • Grand Rapids, MI
What I liked
Good pay and flexible scheduling; supervisors recognize hard workers and give them promotions quickly (summer help cannot receive pay raises, but I was able to at least move to a less menial job with more responsibilities)
What I wish was different
The ability to sit at operating stations; standing in one spot for eight hours a day is hard, even in my relative youth
Advice
Working in a factory is a good way to make money over the summer, especially if you need to find a job that does not require a degree or previous experience. However, the work conditions are (for lack of a better term) miserable.

It's worth getting a summer job at a company that you could see yourself working at in the future, no matter what the job is.
