I am grateful Russell Bernstein allowed me to explore opportunities in marketing and enhancing my skills in graphic design by accepting me as a media intern in the KW internship program. Throughout the program, I was able to strengthen my communication skills by working with interns from all over the world and in different time zones. Russell facilitates great teamwork that we learn from him is essential so you never feel alone even in a remote internship. I was able to become more organized and efficient in time management by following the record-keeping system Russell teaches us and this has followed me into other projects I take on. Russell pushed me to become a leader and helped me become more confident as a team member and a go-getter who finds projects they want to do. As a media intern, I was able to work with businesses outside the internship on graphic design because of Russell’s influence and help. Overall, I would not have learned how to operate as a marketing and graphic design professional without Russell’s guidance.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had taken on more projects and a wider variety of assignments to challenge myself while I was an intern and I suggest future interns should challenge themselves while working in the internship program.
Advice
If you’re a student interested in graphic design and multimedia and want some real experience working on digital marketing, then I recommend Russell’s internship program. If you are a prospective client interested in buying, selling, or simply valuing a business, you would be remiss not to inquire about Russell's services.

Diversity and Inclusion
June - November 2020 • Boston, MA
What I liked
I enjoyed doing real, consequential, work. It can be hard to find valuable experience as a student- this internship challenges you to seek out hard work while rewarding you with skills can be translated into the work force. I was also able to take on projects and roles that I wouldn't have been able to as an entry level employee at a mega corporation and I got to meet people from all over the world.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had more of a chance to engage with that large network of interns. Everyone involved in this program had really interesting skills and talents. I wish I had taken advantage of the proximity I'd had with these interns!
Advice
This should be a full time commitment. If you have a part time job, it will be tough to juggle all of the responsibilities that come along with this work.

Valuation Intern
June - October 2020 • New Orleans, LA
What I liked
As an intern in the valuation team, I enjoyed the exposure to real clients with real numbers. The practical experience supplemented what I learned in school through case studies. As the internship progresses, you will have the opportunity to take on more senior roles, which allows you to build on leadership skills. Russell, the CEO/administrator of the program, both provides and accepts honest feedback and always looks to improve the experience.
What I wish was different
Since the internship program is young, it is not yet fully developed. Sometimes there can be a gap in communication and expectations. Also, there is seasonal attrition during the fall semester, which means that the workflow becomes an overload.
Advice
Make sure you are open to doing tasks that are outside your comfort zone.

Multimedia Intern, UX.UI Specialist
July - October 2020 • Eugene, OR
What I liked
I had a great experience working with Russell. For 3-4 months, I interned with him on the Media Team, and my expectations for the internship were exceeded. I learned a lot about corporate design and creative media while having a high degree of respect and independence. Russell openly welcomed my suggestions and inputs on our work despite him having years of experience ahead of me. I gained significant leadership experience as I contributed towards improving the internship program at an administrative level. I also found it unique to be trusted with client interactions that most other internships do not offer, which greatly improved confidence in my abilities. I found this to be the most rewarding aspect as I enjoyed connecting with others and sharing my knowledge. I have great pride in the work I performed thanks to the support and mentorship from Russell.
What I wish was different
I wish there was a standard terminology glossary for each team in order for the education to be standardized and to reduce the language barriers.
Advice
Be very communicative with Russell and other interns, especially if you have any ideas or suggestions that can help improve the internship program.

I had a great experience working with Russell this summer. Russell is a great mentor and an experienced professional and pushed me out of my comfort zone to tackle challenging tasks. Information Security and Web Tech Intern
January - April 2020 • New Orleans, LA
What I liked
I enjoyed the freedom that I had as a web tech intern. After solving critical website issues I was able to explore areas that I had an interest in. Also enjoyed the fact that my position is very involved and hands-on.
What I wish was different
For the duration of my internship I was the only person working on the web tech side of things. Perhaps having somebody else to work with would have enhanced the learning experience, but I still value the hands on experience that I gained by working mostly alone.
Advice
As an unpaid remote internship, the program is what you make of it. If you take it as a chance to explore new areas and learn about the technologies that Russell uses, it will be a valuable experience. Being a self-starter is a great skill to have in this position.

Valuation Intern
January - March 2020 • New York City, NY
What I liked
Russell is very open to discussions. He is also very patient in terms of explaining things and want every intern to learn something from this internship. In addition, I got the chance to talk with a business owner to learn more about the history and the basic information of the business.
What I wish was different
I wish there could be more interaction and collaboration among the interns. Because it is a remote internship, many interns are in different time zones and it can be hard to have efficient communication.
Advice
Although the requirement is only five hours per week for this internship, one can always ask Russell for more projects to work on if he/she is interested in that area.

Management Intern
June - October 2019 • New Orleans, LA
What I liked
As a Management Intern for Russell, I performed a variety of tasks centered around the business development of Russell Bernstein, CBI. In this role, I was to understand the business strategy and implement practices that would steer the business in the appropriate direction through systematic growth. By conducting consultations, research, and reform, we were successfully able to build processes that are serving as the foundation of new systems that are growing the business.
During the internship, I found Russell to be supportive and empowering of those around him. For instance, I was working on a solo consulting project, outside the scope of the internship, and I wanted some general support and feedback on some of my ideas. Russell not only helped me refine these ideas, but he then accompanied me to the business meeting where I landed the consulting deal! This kind of support is rare, and it is what sets him apart from other mentors like him.
Overall, through the Management Internship, I was able to grow professionally by stepping into a role that presented me with the opportunity to lead and add value to the core of the business. Yet, I say it again, what sets Russell apart is his ability to build a relationships through empowering others, specifically young people. This is a skill that not all people are willing to do. I look forward to working together with Russell soon.

Sales Intern
April - July 2019 • New Orleans, LA
What I liked
Russell exemplifies what it means to be a leader. He is the most effective communicator I have ever worked with in a team setting, as he always clearly and assertively communicates guidelines for scheduled tasks. Aside from his professionalism and organization Russell also adapted his leadership to my skill set to help me excel. He helped identify my weaknesses by asking detailed questions then followed up by showing me how to improve them. I specifically remember a time in which Russell and I were making calls to potential clients and I was struggling to speak with assertiveness. Rather than exclaiming what I was doing wrong, he had me think critically and answer questions to identify my faults on my own. This guidance taught me to analyze my performance and grow on my own. Russell always lead me to answers instead of giving them to me, which says a lot about how he conducts his business. I would recommend working with or for Russell, as he is just as hard of a worker as he is a great leader.

Public Relations Intern
June - September 2019 • Portsmouth, VA
What I liked
Before I worked with Russell, I was not sure about what I wanted as a potential career for myself and had planned to use my internship with him to decide how serious I wanted to be about pursuing Real Estate as an option. Because I was a Public Relations intern and not on a team more geared towards real estate transactions and sales, I assumed that my internship would not have much affect on my career indecisiveness. However, when I began researching about my internship before applying for the position, Russell's accomplishments alone were inspiring for me both as a prospective agent and as a 4th year undergraduate who will soon enter the workforce. His record of certifications, memberships, experiences, and projects displayed to me that it was possible to entertain a variety of pursuits and still excel at all of them while maintaining a successful career. His record made him seem intimidating, but his emphasis on encouragement and mutual communication in conversations revealed his passion for mentoring others. He engaged with me on an individual level, encouraging criticisms and input as well as giving constructive criticism and advice that will help me well after this internship. Russell made the extra effort to find and help me pursue career opportunities in real estate with his company personally. He gave me insight into the pros and cons of the real estate industry in one-to-one conversations and inspired me to work diligently to obtain my real estate license, which I am no longer indecisive about, so that I can utilize all that I have learned from this internship as soon as possible.

Marketing and Russian Language Intern
August - November 2019 • Toledo, OH
What I liked
Throughout the course of working in his internship program as a Marketing intern, Russell taught me many positive things, not only about marketing, but about life and career goals as well. I'm grateful that I was able to get out of my comfort zone in order to better prepare myself for my future career. Russell also often expressed a genuine interest in my future goals, and he was always ready to offer useful advice and resources that might help me with what I plan to do after graduation. Lastly, Russell is a highly motivated individual who is very engaged with his work and community. I find that his commitment to his own non-profit organization (Global Team Players Foundation) is both rewarding and inspiring.
What I wish was different
Throughout the course of working in his internship program, I was given a lot of responsibility - which included many kinds of roles that I did not initially feel prepared for (such as training and mentoring other interns).
Advice
Be prepared to take on leadership roles as it is part of this internship experience. Also, although deadlines are flexible it is important to notify team members and Russell when you feel that you need to make changes to your work schedule, or change the deadline of a project.

Marketing Intern and Japanese Language Specialist
April 2019 - July 2020 • Metairie, LA
What I liked
I liked how it was hands-on, and growth in translation. 10% of it other people will guide you, but the rest is pretty much self-guided. Did both translations as create marketing material on several mediums(email, Hootesuite, etc.) Russell is very open to communication.
What I wish was different
When I joined, the program was in its beginnings so that the foundations were a little shakey. When working with other interns, it was a little like herding cats at times due to the different time zones we were in.
Advice
More collaboration rather than trying to get everyone on the same page. If you don't like translation, this is NOT for you. However, making marketing campaign materials is still a big part of this internship.
