Ko Theater Festival is a warm and comforting enviornment for artists to create and excel in their craft. The internship was a well rounded experience which allowed us to work many technical aspects of producing a play. The interns served as a group to actually run the professional shows, which is a step up from an educational setting. The internship is tailored to what you want it to be. Interns have the ability to choose which technical aspects they want to focus on. The interns also live in the same housing as the artists which allowed us to ask questions to artists who tour their shows from different areas.
What I wish was different
I wish the internship was paid with at least a stipend, however the company is non-profit so housing compensation was very generous.
Advice
You get out what you put in. As an intern, if you take the time to talk to the professionals and ask questions you will be able to establish strong relationships and gain more experience in the skills you want. Spending my summer with the Ko Festival was such an enlightening experience and I recommend it to anyone interested in pursuing a career in theatre arts.
