Kinetech Cloud

Business Engineer

June - August 2022 • San Antonio, TX

What I liked

I was initially drawn to Kinetech because of their values and execution strategy and left the internship with a solid basis in client development and low-code app creation. Although I did not have any low-code experience prior to my internship, my time at Kinetech showed me how it could be used to accelerate the development process and create enterprise solutions for a variety of business pain points. By working with the largest team of Mendix experts in the US, I was provided mentorship to quickly expand my skill set and think outside the box.

What I wish was different

Compared to attending in-person class at school and getting to know your professors, TAs, and fellow students, working virtually required a pretty big adjustment. Being able to interact more with other coworkers and teams would have been a great opportunity to know the company better and see the projects others were undertaking.

Advice

Kinetech rewards employees who create value and can deliver with an attention to detail. By pursuing certifications/further education and demonstrating a strong work ethic, you will be set up to succeed.

Business Engineer Intern

June - August 2023 • San Antonio, TX

What I liked

I really enjoyed the hands on experience I had during this internship. I got lots of feedback which helped my overall improvement in many industry relevant skills. I really liked the amount of time and resources Kinetech was willing to put for my growth and development.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a little bit more interaction with other members of the company.

Advice

Asking questions is an important skill to have in this field. If you have questions don't be afraid to ask and even if you think you know the answer you should ask questions anyways to confirm.

Business Engineer

July - September 2022 • Charlottesville, VA

What I liked

The position provided me a lot of real-world opportunities as an intern. I was able to complete a certification, receive training on coding languages, and design new creative extensions of current projects. The title of Business Engineer really applies as I was able to work with a team to create and showcase actual deliverables to clients. Your work has actual value and not just brushed off without review.

What I wish was different

I wish there were more opportunities to work with others within the company. During my time, I met excellent engineers but did not get to interact much with everyone else besides outside events. This difference can be attributed to the fact that the internship came to an end and if I had more time, I'm sure I would have had more opportunities to join other projects.

Advice

Kinetech is always looking to elevate their employees through trainings or specializations. If you have questions about things, just ask. If you are given opportunities to work on new things, do not dismiss it. Like many other jobs, you get what you put into your position.

Business Engineer

May - August 2021 • Charlottesville, VA

What I liked

I really enjoyed how hands-on the experience was, even as an intern I got to sit in on client meetings and build software that would actually be used in the real world. I also appreciated Kinetech's commitment to my own growth. Even in the short period of the internship, I got a certification and significantly improved both my technical and soft skills.

What I wish was different

I wish I had slightly more direction and instruction early on in the internship but I think trial by fire has its benefits as well. You need to learn quickly but the only one putting pressure on you to do so is you.

Advice

Share what you know and what you want to know early, if you have a lot of knowledge or interest in a particular subject, let someone know. Kinetech loves to help people promote themselves and take on a growth mindset. My only other advice would be that you will get out of an experience like this what you put into it.
