Throughout my internship at KLA, I loved that I was able to learn the ropes of what was expected of me at my own pace to then implement my knowledge and what I just learned into several KLA Clientele projects, which needed confidence when performing any analysis, sampling, collection etc. I also loved how KLA created an environment that was open to any form of questions that have surfaced for me. That indicated that they not only value my experience as a first intern but also how they value their collective work I am assisting them with for their clients audit plan. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, the ability to learn and inquire, and slowly become an accounting professional at my own pace.
What I wish was different
I do not think there is an aspect that I think I would want to be different.
Advice
The one piece of advice that I would share about this experience is to learn or bring out your own self advocacy when becoming a first time intern. Interning at an audit/accounting firm can be intimidating at the start. However, I think it is crucial to have a grasp on what you bring to the table which leads into how you can advocate for yourself in what you need assistance in or how to serve as the most effective intern that you can be.

Auditing Intern
August 2022 • Flagstaff, AZ
What I liked
I did a virtual internship, which was very helpful for my class schedule. The firm understood my school commitments, and I was able to create a flexible schedule. The firm was beneficial and engaging. They are all welcoming and inviting.
What I wish was different
Advice
Even more than in-person internships, you must ask questions and actively reach out. You're new at this job, everyone knows it, and everyone expects you to need help. In a remote position, radio silence is the worst thing, so don't hesitate to improve your communication skills.!

Audit/Tax Intern
August 2022 • Tucson, AZ
What I liked
While interning at Keegan Linscott and Associates, I have been very happy with their flexibility. By continuing my education at the University of Arizona I needed the ability to set a schedule that would work best for me, and if need be change it week by week if schooling did need more time. KLA made scheduling very easy.
Another point that I have really enjoyed about KLA is the ability to switch between departments to try and find the best fit for me. During the fall semester of 2022, I was an audit intern and I really did learn a lot, but I wanted to further my knowledge in tax. About a month before I was expected to end the fall internship I was taken to lunch and asked about what I enjoyed and did not, and was asked if I would like to try working in tax. This was great because I did want to, but if I didn't they would have allowed me to stay in Audit and continue my learning.
KLA is a very professional yet laid-back Accounting firm if you are looking to gain real-world experience and work with some really cool companies, KLA is well worth your time. They will help you develop a wide variety of skills that you don't get at larger firms. While working at KLA, you will be able to see that the people there truly do care about you being successful as well as the business as a whole.
What I wish was different
There's not much I wish had/should be different. I have really had a great experience with KLA so far, and I have learned so much about the Accounting Industry that you don't get to learn at school.
Advice
This is a great place to work at, don't look at the job as if you are going to just go get coffees for people and live in those horror stories of internships. At KLA you will be treated with respect, meet a lot of cool people, and really get the help you will need to flourish in Accounting.
So, the one piece of advice I would say is to apply to KLA with a mindset that is hungry for knowledge and determined to make yourself the best accountant you can be, and you truly will not be disappointed.

Accountant Intern
June - August 2019 • Tucson, AZ
What I liked
The people were nice and friendly, very positive and understanding about how you don't know anything walking through their doors
What I wish was different
A more formal training and work schedule so the intern could do tasks more efficiently and with understanding of what they have on their list to-dos
Advice
Never be afraid to ask for help and be open to understanding that every experience teaches you something, whether it is obvious or not
