Mechanical Engineering Technician

March - June 2023 • Cooperstown, NY

What I liked

I could apply my knowledge using AutoCAD and what I have learned about how materials behave, how details have to be checked, how to standardize product and solved problems. I like to engage with senior engineers and learn from them. Also, go to the manufactures where the product that I was designing was built so I could understand more what I was doing. Learn hoe to use tolerances and ASME standards.

What I wish was different

That I could get more guidance with certain tasks, even though I knew how to use AutoCAD, it felt like I was being given tasks without any outline in the beginning.

Advice

That do not think that they are not teaching you anything. Definitely you will always get to learn something from every experience. Even though, is called an "internship" you supposed to treat it as a job, you are there to apply your knowledge, be proactive, and solve problems on your own.
