Howard EcoWorks is a non-profit with a bigger goal behind beautifying local landscapes: to empower communities and diverse workforces to respect and restore our natural systems for future generations.
Simply put, we are committed to providing job opportunities and work experiences to people of all backgrounds while restoring the environment.
So, how does Howard EcoWorks restore the environment?
1. We create pollinator-friendly gardens exclusively using Maryland native plants.
2. We promote native plants to propagate in our region by harvesting their native seeds in the fall and spreading them through hand-made seed bombs
3. We use biochar, a soil amendment used to sequester carbon in our gardens.
4. Our field crew routinely maintains identified stream restoration sites by removing invasive species from taking hold in vulnerable areas.
And much more!
