GS Engineering has a wide array of projects and you can gain technical skills in many different areas.
What I wish was different
GS Engineering doesn't pay for training and this can be difficult as a young engineer.

What I liked
I greatly enjoyed my time at GS engineering. The proximity to MTU is very convenient and provides a great opportunity to gain industry work experience efficiently during the school year. The people at GS engineering that form the culture there is one of my favorite parts. They are kind, knowledgeable, and always willing to help with both work and non-work related items. They value your work life balance and your career development and genuinely want you to learn and grow the best you can. Employees are working at GS because of their passion for providing great engineering solutions and because of their love for the Keweenaw.
What I wish was different
Most of the work I was responsible for doing was fully on my computer. GS is constantly growing and perusing more interactive in person opportunities, but in my time, I would have wished I had more hands-on experience in my work.
Advice
If you are taking on a role at GS, I encourage you to make the most of your experience by continually asking for help and advice from any of the numerous employees who have extensive, varied experience that they are happy to share.
