What I liked

I enjoyed learning the front-of-house dynamics for a restaurant. I’ve been cooking in the food industry for six years, so being in different roles, mostly managerial, was an exciting change of pace.

What I wish was different

Given the location of the restaurant, foot traffic fluctuated. So I wish that business was constant and demanding.


For anyone wanting to be a restaurant manager, be prepared to truly submerge yourself in the mess. There might be times where you have to serve, bus tables, or even wash dishes. Managing a restaurant includes total self-involvement.
