I loved getting to see the inside of a professional marketing team, while being able to sit-in on board meetings, content meetings, and scheduled photoshoots. The marketing team was so great, they let me ask questions and create content for their brand! I loved how organized the team was and how I was doing something new and exciting everyday. I had my own desk and got to assist on team meetings.
What I wish was different
I wish that the marketing team would have been a bit bigger, because it was only two people. However, I think because it was so small I was able to have a very personal experience. I also wish I had interned at a larger, more updated and advanced company such as Google, only because those companies may be more in my line of interest, whereas this internship was more old-fashioned marketing strategies. I had to introduce many of the digital marketing strategies I learned at SHU, to the team, rather than me learning new strategies.
Advice
If I were to give one piece of advice, it would be to go in with an open mind and an optimistic attitude. I would say work very hard, and always ask questions, not only so you do the job correctly, but to show that you are engaged and interested. Ensure that you make connections and network whenever possible because you never know when you may need a recommendation or a resource, especially post-graduation!
