I loved getting to interact with the adults and children that I worked with. This internship really pushed me out of my comfort zone, as I was suddenly designing and teaching classes/programs. I love that I made lifelong friendships and connections out of this internship, and many special memories.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had known more about Down Syndrome and about how to design and teach classes before going into this internship. I think some more preparation for myself would have been helpful.
Advice
Give all you have to wherever you are. Meet people where they are. Be willing to learn, and always try to love.

What I liked
I really enjoyed working at Gigi's; it was fun to work with my pupils and we all made great strides.
What I wish was different
The scheduling was a bit weird, and I wish I could have helped more as a general volunteer (I did help somewhat regularly as a general volunteer).
Advice
Don't stick to your preliminary expectations for this job or your students; you will be pleasantly surprised and delighted in all the ways both subvert and exceed your expectations.
