People Services Intern

May - August 2019 • North Little Rock, AR

What I liked

I loved the diversity of my assignments. I was able to experience many different Human Resource functions at the company, including recruitment, benefits, and HRIS implementation.

What I wish was different

The People Services team was spread out over several different offices in multiple states, so I didn’t get to see everyone I worked with. Luckily, technology allows us to connect virtually, but you still can’t beat face-to-face interactions.

Advice

Keep an open mind, and I think that applies to every internship. Internships are about learning and gaining experience. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about topics that interest you, because you might discover your career!

Aircraft Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • North Little Rock, AR

What I liked

The Network I was able to build there amongst the other interns was wonderful. And the ability to be flexible and work on different assignments kept me interested.

What I wish was different

I’m and adventurer and outdoor enthusiast so sitting In an office almost 85% of the time was not very enjoyable for me.

Advice

I would say talk to your mentor from the start about shadowing other departments in the first few weeks. If your like me and enjoy learning and seeing different types of engineering then this is your opportunity to branch out. Don’t get caught up in the stupid idea that your going to be the best intern there is because in truth you don’t really know anything that beneficial to really help out the team until you have experience. You can always learn AutoCAD and microstation but you cannot get back the opportunity to see what kind of jobs may be enjoyable for you. Finally, if you do anything I’ve mentioned then get out and use Garvers multiple departments to find the pros and cons for yourself before you graduate and the real world hits.
