What I liked

I've enjoyed working in a team environment, especially being able to use agile development processes with Jira/Scrum. The Software Development Life Cycle in a company like Fruit is constantly being being updated to reflect new technologies, and has allowed me to expand my knowledge of software engineering tenfold. Being able to work alongside seasoned experts and leaders in software development has been a dream come true, and I can't wait to see what the future will hold for me in the company.

What I wish was different

It's hard to complain about anything with the position im currently in. Being new to the career field, I am expected to contribute to the projects at hand, which at times can be a bit overwhelming. I spend many long nights at home making sure my portion of a project is completed before the scheduled deadlines. Having this responsibility, along with going to school at ASU full time leaves very little extra time to spend with family and friends.

Advice

My advice for anyone thinking of jumping into a full time opportunity before finishing school would be to make sure that you're able to leave work at work, as much as possible. The knowledge you will gain is absolutely invaluable, but you don't want to over work yourself and neglect other aspects of your life. Keeping a balanced life with work and play is extremely important for physical and mental health, which is of the utmost importance no matter what you decide to do for your career.

The people are super friendly. I have been doing stuff that actually helps others in the business, gathering valuable experience.

I can't complain, I love the experience I have gathered thus far.

Advice

Be willing to learn something completely new, and get to know the team around you. Be humble, because no matter how well you do in class, not everything will be perfect but it will be a great learning experience.
