Forte Capital Group

Private Equity Intern

March 2023 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The program is expanding past what it was, and getting to be a part of this process is very interesting. You really get to impact the future internship process and programs offered because of how they focus on the issues we face.

What I wish was different

Advice

Reach out to previous interns, reach out to employees and understand that these people have all done the same. Everyone here is an open book and as interns who've had the chance to experience that we will express that ourselves.

What I liked

Something I liked in the internship is being able to not only see how my mentor worked as well as being able to develop professionally. For instance, my mentor helped me develop my pitch more and point out on areas I needed to improve on.

What I wish was different

I wished we got to learn more in different aspects and handle more things.

Advice

Go in and ask other interns how things work and be ready to meet new people.

Private Equity Intern

June 2023 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The environment in which I was placed into, was very supportive as well as challenging. Throughout the duration of the internship, my mentor often let me listen in on meetings, and teach me different terminologies, I would've never otherwise known about. This experience has allowed me to hone my networking/sourcing skills, as well researching skills, regarding keeping up with clients, day to day.

What I wish was different

Advice

Take the experience seriously, as it is a good opportunity especially for first year students. It's very laid back, however not keeping up with the pace can get to you.

Private Equity Intern

June 2023 • New York City, NY

What I liked

At Forte Capital Group, I was exposed to the idea of investing into late stage privately held companies before they are publicly traded on the exchange. I also had the opportunity to learn more about IPOs and the advantage of investing in them. I learned a lot about the private equity space, and I'm interested in perusing a career in that field.

What I wish was different

I've had an excellent experience, but I would like to have more hands-on projects.

Advice

One piece of advice would be to come here open-minded and be ready to learn more and enhance your knowledge.

What I liked

At Forte I really enjoyed the interactive and hands-on approach to deals and due diligence. It was able to strengthen my knowledge of deal structuring, client outreach, and wealth management.

What I wish was different

I loved my experience! Farrel is a great mentor and someone I recommend to every individual eager to learn more about the Financial Services Industry. I wish there was more wealth management at the beginning of the internship, however, it was still incorporated in the internship.

Advice

One piece of advice is to make a good impression and be open to learn various different aspects in Finance.

What I liked

I really enjoyed the fast paced environment and seeing a stockbroker make deals.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more an intern could do to help. Because of the many tests you need to pass, it was impossible for us to do even the smallest things.
