Fort Tuthill Military Museum

Volunteer

May - August 2019 • Flagstaff, AZ

What I liked

I worked at Fort Tuthill Military Museum doing everything from accepting admissions to leading tours. I was able to help with the Smithsonian Patriot Nation Exhibit that the museum displayed during the summer. I learned about the Arizona National Guard since its inception in 1865. I also learned about Major General Alexander Mackenzie Tuthill which Fort Tuthill County Park is named for.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship could have continued past the summer semester

Advice

Fort Tuthill Military Museum at Fort Tuthill County Park is a diamond that is hidden at Fort Tuthill. Most local visitors from Flagstaff never realized a museum was there. The biggest thing I can say is to be prepared to learn a lot of good information and have a better understanding of Fort Tuthill.
