Assistant Store Manager

May - September 2018 • Limerick, PA

What I liked

Working closely with people my age and helping them develop their skills on many fronts. Helping customers and resolving issues quickly and efficiently.

What I wish was different

The upper management was shaky in the company which put a lot of pressure on me. This resulted in lack of training for me while I was left to do nearly everything by myself.

Advice

Do not intern here unless you plan to stay in retail because there is a lot of opportunity to move up in the company, but they don't want you doing anything else.

What I liked

I loved the long hours because I wanted to do a lot this summer and needed money to do it.

What I wish was different

I wish that my work was a little closer to me and didn't have a bunch of traffic for most of the day.

Sales Associate

May 2018 • Mays Landing, NJ

What I liked

I liked how there was always something to do, and everyone I worked with helped me when I didn't know how to do something or was struggling with go-backs in the fitting room.

What I wish was different

Generally customers don't read signs saying something is closed so I wish we had a glowing neon sign so that I wouldn't have to say that the upstairs fitting room is closed for the 5th time within the hour.

Advice

This gave me a lot of patience and developed my multi-tasking and teamwork skills. Anyone who is shy around people should try to work a job like this because you have to talk to people to get your job done.
