Nancy Eiden is an incredible woman who truly puts her whole self into everything she does. We met weekly to discuss strategy and corresponded throughout the week to keep up to date with everything going on. She is incredibly open to ideas and insight and is incredibly responsive. I was able to learn so much about the non-profit realm and was able to work in a variety of roles. She is intent on making this experience worthwhile for her interns and she obviously cares a lot about her interns' learning outcomes. While I did decide to move on and explore other opportunities, we keep in touch and remain intent on keeping up with FSA's growth.
What I wish was different
I wish we had been able to meet in person, Nancy is located in New Jersey and I in New York.
Advice
it is a great experience for those interested in non-profit and advocacy work. Much of the work relies on independent engagement and judgement which is normal for the non-profit realm. There are highs and there are lows but it is always moving in the right direction.

What I liked
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at First Step Alliance. It provided me the opportunity to further advance my research and writing skills through a series of fascinating grant projects. This position also fully equips interns with the necessary skills to be a proficient workers in the professional world.
