drawchange

Shelter/Adminstrative Intern

December 2023 - July 2024 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Everyone at drawchange is extremely passionate about the mission at hand. This is so important to a nonprofit and made my internship worthwhile. I grew to become passionate about the needs of the children myself and going to the shelters is one of the most fulfilling experiences one can have. I got to witness the children grow and prosper from week to week, and really absorb the purpose of what we do. drawchange has a real impact on the children of the homeless community.

What I liked

I deeply appreciate the impactful mission led by drawchange. Its dedication to providing art therapy for homeless children and raising awareness about mental health and homelessness is truly inspiring. While there is a considerable amount of work that goes on behind the scenes—often involving challenges such as occasional miscommunication and workload pressures—I have learned to navigate these complexities and appreciate the dedication required to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children.

Program Director Assistant Intern

April - August 2020 • Orlando, FL

What I liked

Working for drawchange was an amazing experience that I'd recommend to any college student. It's a small company, but their impact is big. You really feel like you're making a difference working for them. The team was wonderful to work with and always valued my opinions and inputs. They give you a lot of autonomy, so you don't feel like you're being micromanaged. I would highly recommend this internship!

Advice

Don't take feedback personally if they ask you to change something you've worked on. They do everything for a reason!
