About Des Plaines Park District

The Des Plaines Park District was established in 1919 features more than 50 parks and facilities. As an Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency, we serve a diverse and growing community with hundreds of affordable recreational and educational programs for kids, teens, adults, and families each season.

Our wide variety of parks include: •Playgrounds, ball fields, walking/jogging/biking paths, picnic shelters •Soccer fields, basketball, volleyball, horseshoe courts •Mini-golf, batting cages, skate & BMX parks •Outdoor concert pavilion, memorial trees and benches, gazebos •Ponds, native plant gardens, greenhouse, sensory garden •Fishing, boating, sailing, and paddle boating on Lake Opeka
