I kept my role as a lifeguard supervisor at Presque Isle State Park this past summer. I was put in charge of the most popular beach despite my feelings of not being ready to handle a drastic situation - I worry a lot and feared the worst. Luckily, my superiors had the trust in me to do the job and the summer went by without any problems. It taught me how to take on daily doses of anxious feelings and power through knowing that I have the ability to handle what comes my way and that the situation is likely not as bad in reality as is in my head. My managers and coworkers made my time at PISP extremely enjoyable and I will miss working with them,
What I wish was different
I wish I would have started earlier. It is a great job for high school and college students as it pays well, gets you more accustomed to working things out between different people and most importantly instills the value of responsibility.
Advice
Stay focused, stay hydrated, don't get visibly upset with patrons. Also, becoming friends with your coworkers will make it more fun than work.
