In my time at DENSO I’ve been able to learn a lot about how businesses run and each department works together. I’ve enjoyed the experience of working at a large, global company and the perspectives I’ve gained from it.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have spent more time in each department to really understand more details within processes, and see more challenges that different groups/departments face.
Advice
I’ve learned to ask as many questions as you can! It helps you to learn and understand processes to get the bigger picture.

Intern
May - August 2018 • Battle Creek, MI
What I liked
Lots of experience that can be applied to many different future opportunities.
Friendly and helpful atmosphere.
Good pay.
What I wish was different
Internship wasn't very engineering related, so I wish it could've been a little more relevant to my major. However, I was offered a possible co-op and full time position which would be more closely related to my major.
Advice
I suggest keeping a notebook and taking notes on your experiences, as you will most likely have to present your work at the end of your internship - which is cool. It would also be good to outline your tasks for the next day, as it will help you keep busy and stay organized.

Engineering Co-op
October 2017 • Battle Creek, MI
What I liked
DENSO has given me many opportunities to learn and apply my knowledge of engineering. I have worked along side engineers on their own projects. It has taught me many things about the field and the complexity of a large international company. Internships also allow the student to get a feel for their specific career without being a great commitment.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have started internships earlier in my education at Western Michigan University. They are extremely valuable experience, and they pay much better than a normal retail job.
Advice
The best piece of advice I could give is to join a student organization such as Formula SAE, Baja, WALI or Sunseeker. In engineering, these programs look tremendously well to employers and add much value in networking. They are also a lot of fun to be a part of!

Process Engineering co-op
May 2016 • Battle Creek, MI
What I liked
I love the environment, the opportunity to learn new things and my co-workers.
What I wish was different
The length of job. I was full time only for the summer so it was hard to complete projects before I went back to school. I had roughly 3 months of full time to complete projects and I wish i had more time or more support to complete the projects.
Advice
It was a great experience and if anyone has the opportunity to get an internship, I say go for it. It will help you grow in your career and looks really good on your resume. Plus you are making money over the summer so It is a win, win situation for students.
