I enjoyed living on campus and doing intense research on a topic I was very interested in.
What I wish was different
I wish that the materials stipend would have been awarded earlier in the research period. I think I would have been able to get more work done had I recieved my stipend before week 5
Advice
You need to be very good at disciplining yourself when you are in charge of how much work you get done. Otherwise it piles up quickly.

What I liked
I liked how I got a chance to work with young people that were really in need of a mentor that is not too far in age around them. The kids always mentioned that it would be nice to have some postive rolemodels around for them to look up too. Thanks to Denison, I was able to be a postive influence on the kids and share with them relatable experiences. I loved every aspect of the job because the kids will never forget the exciting lessons they learned about how to overcome obstacles and gain positive success.
What I wish was different
What I wish that was different is the ability to meet their parent or guardian and t get to know them. The reason why I would like to know them becuase I know that I would have had some feedback to give them about their child instead of the P.O's.
Advice
Do not be afraid to have super tense or uncomfortable discussions with the kids becuase that is where they grow. Listen, think, than ask a question.
