Democracy Matters offers a paid internship to work on your own campus to "Organize for Social Justice & Social Change". Democracy Matters is a national non-partisan organization that encourages student activism in protecting and strengthening our democracy through activism and advocacy on voter registration and turnout, money in politics, expanded voting rights reform, gerrymandering reform etc. These are linked to critical issues including climate change, civil, attackson fundamental rights and on democracy itself, women's and LGBTQ rights, the cost of higher education, mass incarceration, gun violence, international crises, and more. Nothing is more important for addressing these issues than a democracy that is inclusive and fair, that works for all of us, and that fights for the promise of a government of, by, and for ALL the people.
Democracy Matters provides to interns on-going training and mentoring, a national conference, a monthly stipend, contacts with national social justice organizations, a monthly Enews and bi-weekly information on organizing and national issues, materials including pins, stickers, banners etc, and the chance to develop lifelong leadership and organizing skills.
We believe with Martin Luther King, Jr. "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
