Delta Faucet Company

Product Engineering Intern

June - December 2018 • Carmel, IN

What I liked

I love the range of opportunities given to me as an intern. I don't have to fit into a cookie cutter position within the engineering team, I can make my time here memorable and learn what I want to learn.

What I wish was different

The stereotypical engineering attitude characterized by introvert personalities and long hours of consistent work is more present in this company than I expected. Delta prides itself in its amazing culture and futuristic atmosphere, but it seems like the engineering department is just slightly behind everyone in that aspect. Not that this is a bad thing, however I wish it could be a more lively day-to-day experience.

Advice

It's great to learn a lot about your specific field of work in an internship, but reaching out to other disciplines/departments allows you to see how your profession fits in to the big picture. In other words, it is more valuable to learn about the entire company and its inner workings than it is to learn as much as you can about your specific role.

Retail Sales Intern

What I liked

It was very independent work so I never felt like I was being hovered over! The stuff I did was actually used by my coworkers rather than just busy work that no one would look at.
