Summer Education Intern

June - August 2019 • Hockessin, DE

What I liked

I loved being able to work outdoors and with children during most of the summer. Being able to teach nature education and stewardship to kids and doing fun activities like kayaking, canoeing, archery, exploring, and hiking made it a fun summer and didn't even feel like work!

What I wish was different

I would have liked there to be more education interns on staff for the summer. There were some times where others got sick and we had to adjust schedules and camps for each week, so more staff and volunteers would have helped things go a little smoother at times!

Advice

This is a great experience if you are passionate about environmental stewardship and education and enjoy working with kids, ages 3-15. You have to be patient at times with the children while still making their experience as fun and educational as possible.
