What I liked
During last year's career fair with Handshake, I met a multitude of different employers within various fields of hospitality. Some were large in scope and others concentrated on their particular brand of hospitality, what I wanted however from a company, big or small, was that they made me not only feel validated as an employee but actively offered me opportunities and guidance to grow and see my success through with them. It was during my first round of interviews with Deer Valley that I was told "Deer Valley can also be called Career Valley" and that stuck with me throughout all my interviews with various prospects and I always found myself thinking of Deer Valley. Since getting hired and taking on the role as assistant manager with Deer Valley at the Silver Lake Lodge I've been given numerous opportunities to learn, take on new responsibilities, and be given the validation that they respect and understand that my decisions are important to them. Because of this, I feel a personal obligation and pride in being held accountable for operating a lodge. As I celebrate my successes, so to do they as my success is their success and when I fall short they do not point blame but share in the failure and take it as an opportunity to not only help me grow but for them to reevaluate where they went wrong so that those that follow after me can avoid the same pitfalls we shared. I've been with Deer Valley for 9 months and the amount of personal growth I've experienced is directly related to the personal commitment they've made towards me as an individual and as an investment in their success. I genuinely am grateful to be a part of a fantastic organization and I continue to look forward to seeing what the future will bring working alongside Deer Valley.
