What I liked
Great place to intern! I really loved Deborah's place, I tell people that all the time. The clients were great, and staff was supportive, collaborative, diverse, and encouraged self-care.
What I wish was different
It's difficult to engage some of the participants in counseling. For this reason, it is better as a case management placement for social work students. I ended up having 4 consistent clients for counseling, and many others who were unable to meet regularly.
Advice
It's very important to be well-versed in harm reduction and trauma-informed care. Also, all interns should be mindful of their own self-care.
