The application and hiring process was very easy. My faculty advisors helped me out with a recommendation letter and resources to improve my resume. I like the flexibility of being on-call and being able to pick up shifts as I please, it made for a balanced summer!
What I wish was different
I wish I would've been trained more on other halls/floors before being on my own. Luckily the staff and nurses were very supportive so I felt prepared when the time came. I wish I fully understood the physical demands of this work.
Advice
Stretch! Certified Nurses Assistants (CNAs) are required to do work that may be strenuous to the body, I would suggest stretching before and after work. Also, learned to be okay with saying "No". To care for others, you must first care for yourself and sometimes that's saying no so that self-care can be accomplished.
