The customers. Mostly kids and being able to make them smile with ice cream. Employees were enjoyable to work around. The experience I received from managing.

The pay. The work that was asked for one person. Not having a system in place.

Start working somewhere where you can get a jump start at your career and grown and learn about the industry you're in.

I honestly wish I would have stayed the first time, but personal things happened and I had to quite. Now I'm back and better than ever.

What I liked

I enjoy getting to interact with a lot of different people. Before starting to work at DQ, I was very quiet and had a very hard time talking to people that I didn't know. In the 3 years that I have worked there, my social skills have improved immensely and I now talk to almost everyone I see.

What I wish was different

The main thing that I would like to be different is the management. There is sometimes a lot of drama in the store, and instead of stopping it, the managers usually feed into it. This can make work a pretty toxic environment to be in. I feel as though this shouldn't have to be such a big part of coming to work everyday.

Advice

My advice is to go and try a job that might be a little out of your comfort zone. You'll end up learning a lot about yourself and it will help you to grow in that area of weakness.

I wish the management was better. The boss was never there and let an incompetent worker be in charge when she was on vacation: a lot of flaws in the management aspect

Food service helps you become more patient when you go out to eat. People can be mean, but it helps you become professional in situations and people see everything.
