Making food. It's fun, I enjoyed making things with my hands.
What I wish was different
I wish there was more space the working space is narrow like a kitchen in a hallway. Although not the fault of my employer so much as the college's facilities and architect
Advice
It's a great job for Covenant students who want to make more than work-study pay. Especially great for night owls and people who like working with their hands.

Dish Room Worker
May - July 2019 • Holland, MI
What I liked
All the other employees were great, my boss was really understanding when I got sick. Plus you get a free meal for whatever shift you work, which is amazing.
What I wish was different
Wish I hadn't gotten sick in the middle of the job. The smell isn't for the faint of heart either, haha.
Advice
If you're looking for a nice, fair place to work, check it out. The pay is near minimum wage, but the food that's provided is worth an extra five or more dollars per shift, so I'd say it's rewarding. As long as you're willing to put the effort in, it's a pretty good job.

Cafe supervisor
October 2016 - August 2019 • Grand Rapids, MI
What I liked
I loved working with the people at this company. I was allowed a lot of creative freedom to create menus and develop new drinks and food items.
What I wish was different
Management needs a lot of work. Lack of communication within the company.
Advice
It was a great experience to work on a college campus. I would advise to not get involved in the drama that arises between employees.
