“Working at Chagrin Valley Engineering was a great first experience in the engineering world. As an inspector, I was responsible for performing regular site visits to monitor the progress of road resurfacing and pipe installation projects. I utilized Pegasus, a construction engineering and inspection software, to prepare detailed inspection reports that included observations, measurements, pay items, and photographic documentation. I really enjoyed spending time in the field, as it significantly enhanced my learning and allowed me to better visualize designs. Being out in the field also improved my ability to read and understand plans more effectively. Another aspect of this internship that I liked was being able to go out on roads to mark areas in need of repair. This experience allowed me to identify real-life problems that required attention which is a vital first step of being an engineer. Overall, working at CVE provided me with invaluable experience, allowing me to see how a project comes to life from a set of plans.”
