Finance Intern
June 2022 • San Diego, CA
What I liked
I loved the culture of the company and how much they care about their employees. The work I did was not the stereotypical "intern busy work". I got to do real tasks that helped the company, which was fulfilling and extremely educational. My knowledge of Excel has tripled since the start and I learned a lot about the opportunities of the broker dealer industry.
What I wish was different
I worked completely remote, but got to go in the office a few times. I wish was able to go in more to interact with others!
Advice
Even if it seems late in the game and the interview process seems long, it doesn't hurt to apply. I ended up getting my perfect internship during finals week. Show eagerness to learn and ask a lot of questions.

Assistant Financial Advisor
March 2019 • Glen Allen, VA
What I liked
I love this company! They really value their employees and have the best leadership I have seen. The leadership in the office is inspirational, and I feel comfortable asking my higher ups for any assistance I need, from questions about work to life guidance. We all respect each other well, and I am excited to continue working with this company.
What I wish was different
I can't say that I wish anything different. Maybe a little less paperwork but it is the finance industry so.
Advice
Be confident and believe that everything happens for a reason. You will end up where you are meant to end up.

Personal Financial Advisor Intern
June - August 2019 • Cheektowaga, NY
What I liked
I enjoyed the idea of helping people with their personal finances. I enjoyed learning about of the different methods and ways of doing so that are offered by the government, and private organizations throughout the country.
I also enjoyed the staff at Cetera, they were inviting and helpful, and were eager to teach and answer questions we had about their jobs
What I wish was different
That there were other ways to help people. Since the job is about finding your own clients, it discourages me from pursuing a career with them.
Advice
It was extremely helpful and applicable. Knowing about all of the methods and ways to help build personal wealth I know will help me in the years to come.

Financial Advisor Intern
June - August 2019 • Beaverton, OR
What I liked
o It has been my greatest work experience regarding my coursework and future career interest. Not only did I gain valuable knowledge regarding holistic planning and wealth management, but also the importance of the relationship side of financial planning.
o Experiences in holistic planning and wealth management (mostly through mutual funds). The internship informed me of the licensing required to be a CFP and has set me up well to pursue those licensees (series 7, series 66, Oregon life and health).
What I wish was different
The internship was 10 weeks long and only on Fridays. I wish the internship was more than one day per week because that would just be even more case studies you run through.
Advice
Good internship to learn about basic investments, holistic planning, life insurance and work through actual case studies. This would be an excellent internship to possibly paid with another.
