I enjoyed working on campus at Northwestern with incredible kids who were having a blast and learning a lot.
What I wish was different
I wish that we had gotten more breaks and been more fairly treated by the staff above us.
Advice
Really think about whether you are ready to work incredibly hard for 2 1/2 months for not a lot of money. But if you love kids, it might be a good fit.

Teacher's Assistant

What I liked
It was incredible experience for a future teacher. All of my bosses were incredible and would do anything to help me or the students. And the students are amazing people who you get to know pretty well.

Advice
Communicate with your teacher a lot, and file the necessary logs (minor reports on student behavior). Having the trail of observed behaviors is helpful.

Teaching Assistant (Preschool, Elementary, Middle, and Secondary School)
July - August 2018 • Evanston, IL
What I liked
I loved working with the accelerated and gifted students at Northwestern University. Since I was able to teach in my field of study, I was able to learn about how developing those skills earlier on in children can lead to great growth later on.
What I wish was different
The only thing I wish would be different was that housing was not provided.
Advice
The best way to learn more about your field is to teach it!
